Caroline Bartle

Ryman Health Care

Caroline Bartle began her career as a caregiver, which sparked her passion for supporting individuals with dementia. After gaining valuable hands-on experience, she pursued a career as a social worker specializing in the mental health care of older people. With over 30 years of experience in the dementia care field, Caroline has dedicated her career to improving care practices.

Caroline went onto establish three businesses, including 3 Spirit UK, which focused on workforce development and received awards for its innovative approach to high-impact learning. Currently, she serves as the director of the Dementia Learning Centre for Alzheimer's New Zealand, where she develops educational programs to enhance dementia care. Additionally, Caroline is the Dementia Care and Innovations Lead at Ryman Healthcare, where she plays a strategic role in bringing research to practice. Her work focuses on developing and implementing strategies that respond to the growing demographic of dementia, ensuring that care practices are both effective and compassionate.

Caroline has spent many years developing learning resources in the dementia field to facilitate creativity, innovation, and workforce development. She is particularly interested in how technology can be introduced to support the depleting workforce and enable caregivers to focus on what they do best: providing compassionate care. Her work explores the intersections between data, organizational learning, and technology to improve dementia care practices.
